{"id":351,"date":"2025-10-09T09:59:04","date_gmt":"2025-10-08T20:59:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/securesphere.co.nz\/?p=351"},"modified":"2025-10-16T09:59:21","modified_gmt":"2025-10-15T20:59:21","slug":"cyber-smart-week-2025","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/securesphere.co.nz\/index.php\/2025\/10\/09\/cyber-smart-week-2025\/","title":{"rendered":"CYBER SMART WEEK 2025"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Last week was <strong>National Cyber Smart week<\/strong>, and this year\u2019s theme was \u201cOwn Your Online\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cyber-crime today is more sophisticated than ever before.&nbsp; In the last six months, 54% of New Zealanders have experienced an online threat with over $1000 lost on average per incident.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Following on from Cyber Smart last week we\u2019re sharing some simple tips to enable you to \u201cown your online\u201d and keep your personal information secure:&nbsp; <strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Tip 1:&nbsp; Create long, strong and unique passwords.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Use a different password for each account and avoid using personal information, like your date of birth, in your password.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Tip 2: &nbsp;Turn on Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2FA is an additional layer of security that helps to protect your online accounts. A common form of 2FA is a unique code sent to your phone or taken from an app that only you have access too.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Tip 3: Activate auto updates on apps and devices<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Updates aren\u2019t just about getting the latest features on apps and devices; they also protect you from any weaknesses or vulnerabilities that have recently been discovered and that could let attackers in.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Tip 4: Set your social media settings to private<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ensure your social media privacy settings are switched to \u2018Private\u2019 or \u2018Friends only\u2019.
