The Cyber Security Agency of Singapore (CSA) recently released some interesting statistics and findings in their inaugural Singapore Cybersecurity Health Report.
The biggest item that come out of the report is that “Many respondents cited a lack of knowledge of cyber security, as well as concerns about costs and whether they would even be a target of cyber threats.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
At least eight in 10 organisations encountered a cyber-security incident each year, according to the study.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Ransomware, in which fraudsters upload malicious software to freeze computer systems and demand payment from victims to restore access, was the most common incident encountered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Businesses also frequently dealt with social engineering attacks, exploitation of misconfigured cloud systems and Denial of Service attacks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
At least 40 per cent of companies surveyed said they faced business disruption, reputational damage or data loss due to a cyber-security incident.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The survey also found companies did not implement or fully implement cyber-security protection and prevention measures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Although the statistics and findings are from Singapore, it can be taken that the same statistics and findings would apply to any country worldwide, not just Singapore.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
